Prostate cancer is one of the most widely spread diseases in the world along with skin cancer and lung cancer. Prostate cancer, however can only develop in males as the prostate is a gland found only in men.
Usually the prostate gland cells grow along with a man and the growing slows down as the man reaches a certain age. In case of prostate cancer, the gland cells continue to grow and will eventually cause trouble with urinating.
Prostate cancer usually develops in men over the age of 65 but in some cases it may develop earlier. However, several older men may have prostate cancer without even knowing it and without it disturbing their life in any way. This shows, that prostate cancer usually grows slowly.
The causes for prostate cancer are also genetic as well as dietary. En who eat a lot of red meat and dairy products containing a high rate of fat are more likely to develop prostate cancer. Also, studies show that men who lead an active and athletic lifestyle are less likely to develop prostate cancer.
Again, if someone in your family has suffered from prostate cancer you are at higher risk and should be regularly examined by the doctor to induce the possibilities of an early discovery and treatment.
